Game, Set and Mistral Match
Wimbledon is synonymous with strawberries and cream (166,055 portions eaten) but this isn’t all that is consumed during the event, other food include: … loosen your belts …
During the tournament, 54,250 tennis balls are used. The balls are replaced after every seven to nine games to make sure they’re in perfect shape throughout the match. Did you know they keep the balls refrigerated to keep them in tip-top condition!!!
Something that is totally associated with Wimbledon are the grunting noises players make (or the curses – who remembers John McEnroy “You cannot be serious” – it’s almost a tag line for Wimbledon now). The loudest known grunt during Wimbledon came from Russia’s Maria Sharapova in 2009. It reached about 105 decibels – the equivalent of standing beside an accelerating motorcycle! Burst eardrums alert!
Anyway after all those facts we thought we’d come out in support of Wimbledon and share our favourite strawberries and cream inspired outfits.
Which is your favourite?
